The key to achieving a sharp jawline and projected chin is dermal fillers like Volux

Dreaming of having the sharp jawline and projected chin you see on your favourite stars when binge watching drama series or movies? Fortunately, there are dermal fillers to the rescue.

Volux is the latest addition to the Juvederm® family of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers, and is designed for the lower face. According to Allergan, the company behind Juvederm, the key difference of Volux from other HA fillers, is its high level of cohesivity and elasticity. Volux is also designed from the get-go for the lower face, such as the chin and jawline. We think Volux may well become a hot favourite with those of us looking to achieve a v-shape face and sharp jawline!

Firmer fillers versus the softer ones

When we asked Dr. Terence Tan, Medical Director of Halley Medical Aesthetics about why Volux is suitable for achieving a defined chin and sharp jawline, he explained that each filler brand contains a line of different fillers, which are categorised based on the firmness of the gel and viscosity.

“A dermal filler that is firmer and higher in viscosity, like Volux by Juvederm, provides a good underlying foundation to fill up facial volume loss, support sagging skin, and allows doctors to sculpt or enhance certain facial structures,” Dr. Terence Tan elaborated.

Such fillers are commonly used for the cheekbones, nose or jawline areas. Volux is not the only filler in this category. Examples of fillers that are firmer and higher in viscosity also include Juvederm Voluma, Belotero® Intense, and Restylane® Lyft, Radiesse®, and several others.

“On the other hand, a filler that is softer and lower in viscosity is more suitable for filling in the fine lines and wrinkles,” added Dr. Terence Tan. Fillers in this category include Juvederm Volbella, Belotero Soft, and Restylane amongst several others.

What filler to use and where?

With so many different types of fillers to choose from to achieve the desired look – be it a high nose bridge, sharp jawline or fuller cheeks – how do you know which filler to pick?

Dr. Terence Tan explained that it is best to let your aesthetic doctor know your expectations, as the type of filler to use would depend on the area that requires treatment. “Other points for consideration include the condition of the patient’s skin and the result they hope to achieve.”

He added that doctors may also pair dermal fillers with other rejuvenating therapies like Ultherapy for an even more dramatic lift.

Combine with Ultherapy for a more dramatic result

Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound energy to lift loose and sagging skin. If a more defined and sharp jawline is what you seek, then Volux can be combined with Ultherapy on the cheeks, jaw, and even upper neck area for a result that is dramatic, yet natural and youthful at the same time.

Get ready for the wonders of Volux, and pair it with Ultherapy for that sharp jawline and projected chin you’ve been wondering about!
